🚑 Urgent et incidents

  1. Un petit avion s’est écrasé dans un champ au nord de Guelph et a pris feu. La police provinciale de l’Ontario indique que des équipes sont intervenues à 10 h 15 près de Beatty Line et de la Wellington Road 17 à Fergus. Transports Canada a été avisé et la police demande aux conducteurs d’éviter le secteur; l’accident fait l’objet d’une enquête.
  2. Levée du confinement et de deux dispositifs « hold-and-secure » dans trois écoles d’Oshawa. La police de Durham rapporte la présence d’agents vers 10 h 45 à la Paul Dwyer Catholic High School à la suite d’une menace; Adelaide McLaughlin Public School et R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate avaient été placées en « hold-and-secure » et toutes les mesures ont été levées vers 11 h 30.

🚨 Criminalité et sécurité publique

  1. Un homme de 30 ans accusé de meurtre au deuxième degré après une fusillade à Port Colborne. La police de Niagara indique qu’un homme de 31 ans de Niagara Falls a été déclaré mort sur Fares Street; un homme de 30 ans de Port Colborne a été arrêté et accusé. Les enquêteurs qualifient l’incident d’isolé et sollicitent l’aide du public.
  2. Le Bureau des enquêtes spéciales disculpe des policiers de Toronto qui ont tiré sur un suspect lié à la mort du constable Marc Pinizzotto. Le directeur Joseph Martino conclut que les agents n’avaient « pas d’alternative » au recours à la force létale lors d’un raid du Emergency Task Force le 11 juin à North York; le suspect de 19 ans, Nicholas Bennett, a été blessé par balle, transporté à l’hôpital et plus tard accusé de meurtre au premier degré.

  1. La Cour d’appel de l’Ontario relance le recours contre l’arrêté anti-campement d’Hamilton. Une formation unanime estime que la juge de première instance s’est fondée sur des stéréotypes concernant les personnes sans-abri et ordonne un nouveau procès pour déterminer si l’interdiction de dormir dans les parcs est constitutionnelle; le recours a été intenté par 14 résidents de campements.
  2. La police de Halton utilise une technologie américaine d’IA en simulation pour recruter et former des réceptionnistes 911. Brian Dodd, gestionnaire du bureau des communications de Halton, affirme que les scénarios GovWorx ont réduit de 50 % le temps d’évaluation des candidats; la force est la première agence canadienne à employer cette technologie pour l’embauche et la formation continue.
  3. Une autre béluga provenant de Marineland est morte après sa relocalisation à l’aquarium Shedd de Chicago. L’aquarium Shedd rapporte que Caspian, une béluga femelle de 27 ans, est décédée mercredi après près de quatre heures sous assistance vitale; elle faisait partie des 30 bélugas relocalisés depuis Marineland cet été.
