- Ontario Microsoft Teams messages auto-delete after 30 days. Policy documents obtained through freedom-of-information show Teams chat messages across the Ford government are permanently deleted after 30 calendar days unless saved by screenshot or copied into a text document.
- Ford government warns municipalities it may cut funding for violating ‘Buy Ontario’ rules. Municipal Affairs Minister Rob Flack told heads of council the Municipal Buy Ontario Procurement Directive is “not optional,” and non-compliant municipalities could face reconsideration of provincial funds.
- Doug Ford publicly praised Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and signalled continued provincial support. Ford said he and Chow have “given the City of Toronto more money than they’ve ever seen — over $9 billion,” and advised reporters to “read between the lines.”
- Unifor urges federal intervention as Stellantis pursues sale of idled Brampton plant. Unifor president Lana Payne warned a sale to Roshel would abandon production and put more than 2,000 Brampton workers and thousands of supplier jobs at risk, with the Stellantis collective agreement expiring Sept. 20.

- Charges dropped against two men accused in the 2023 Pearson Airport gold heist. Oakville resident Amit Jalota had charges withdrawn in Brampton court and Ali Raza also had charges dropped the following day; both defendants and their lawyers said they maintained innocence.
- Man pleads guilty to 2003 sexual assault and robbery of a 78-year-old woman near Jane St. and Eglinton. Barry Cory Ernest admitted to sexual assault causing bodily harm and robbery more than 23 years after the attack; the victim later died in 2017 at age 92, the agreed facts say.
- Eight charged after seizure of about $2.78 million in cannabis on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Tyendinaga Police and OPP executed a Sept. 9 warrant seizing roughly 5,560 plants and 34 kg of cannabis shake; suspects aged 41 to 69 face Cannabis Act charges.
- Speeding on Parkside Drive jumped 560% after province banned automated speed cameras. City light-up sign data show 3,675 vehicles hit 60 km/h or above on Parkside Drive in July 2026 versus 556 in July 2025, Safe Parkside reported.

- Ontario fines SeatGeek $25,000 for allegedly breaking new ticket-resale law. The province says SeatGeek failed to prevent resale above face value and did not appeal the Aug. 28 penalty within two weeks, so the company must pay $25,000.
- Mississauga council approves a one-year moratorium on new data centres over 10 MW. The unanimous pause targets projects with energy demand above 10 megawatts — roughly enough power for 10,000 homes — while staff study guardrails.
- Ontario municipalities are taking varied approaches to AI data-centre growth. Some towns have one-year moratoriums; Oakville is studying moratoria for centres over 50 MW and Hive Digital Technologies announced plans for a 320-MW facility targeting 2027.

- A 10-unit micro-shelter village, ‘Brent’s Place,’ is being built in Scarborough behind Sefonias Catering.
