Pedestrian critically injured in northeast Calgary hit-and-run at 44 Ave NE & 52 St NE. The collision happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday in Temple; Calgary police say the pedestrian sustained critical, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. Police say the driver did not remain at the scene and noted more than 280 pedestrians were struck by vehicles in the city between Jan. 1 and July 31. ↗

Calgary jeweller expects to lose about half of U.S. customers after 50% U.S. tariffs. Cindy Baldassi of CindyLouWho2 told reporters she expects roughly 50 per cent fewer customers after U.S. tariffs on Canadian exports including gold and silver took effect Saturday. Baldassi said about 75 per cent of her buyers were American and Ottawa pledged dollar-for-dollar retaliation starting Sept. 8, Prime Minister Mark Carney said. ↗
