- 16-year-old Jazmin Dhesi fatally shot outside Hairsine condo; arrest made. Dhesi was shot just before 7 a.m. outside Park Hill Condominiums in northeast Edmonton and died at the scene, and Edmonton police announced Tuesday that they have arrested a youth in the homicide investigation. Neighbours said Dhesi was visiting a friend at the complex when the shooting occurred, and police declined further details because the accused is a youth. ↗
- Sentencing hearing underway for Calgary man convicted of drugging and assaulting sex-trade workers. Sixty-two-year-old Richard Mantha faces sentencing after an April 2023 arrest and a trial that began in January 2024; Justice Judith Shriar found him guilty on six counts in April, including sexual assault and knowingly administering a noxious substance, for offences alleged between September 2020 and March 2023. ↗

Principe’s motion asks staff to study multi-unit infill impacts after a 2024 zoning bylaw change allowing sixplexes to 16-unit buildings; a study funded by Edmonton Neighbourhoods United found homes within 50 metres of multi-unit infill sold for about 7.4% less on average—roughly $34,000 per sale in the analysed sample. ↗
- Alberta businesses concerned as U.S. tariff talks near midnight deadline, Calgary Chamber warns. - Hope Mission seeks rezoning to convert thrift store/warehouse into a 120-bed permanent Edmonton shelter. The public hearing on rezoning the site near Argyll Road and 75th Street heard Hope Mission senior director Tim Pasma say the agency saw a 23% increase in winter site visits last year and wants to decentralize services; neighbouring businesses at the hearing opposed the location citing proximity to a casino, liquor and cannabis stores. ↗
- Wetaskiwin mayor Joe Branco allowed back after court-approved interim agreement, must retake training. - Tyson Philpot leads CFL at midseason with 98 targets, 74 catches and 1,154 yards.
