Calgary police say officers responded around 2:00 a.m. after calls reporting multiple vehicles on fire in the 0–100 block of Cityline Common N.E., where five vehicles were found extensively damaged and neighbours heard explosions; police ask anyone with video between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.

One person found dead after Tuxedo Park basement fire; death labelled suspicious. Calgary Fire Department crews extinguished a basement blaze in the 200 block of 27 Avenue N.E. after responding around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, firefighters located one person without vital signs and Calgary police have opened a suspicious-death investigation while the chief medical examiner will perform an autopsy.

Three charged after victim allegedly robbed, kidnapped and forced into trunk near Balzac. Calgary police say the Aug. 18 incident began after midnight in Livingston when a 31-year-old man was approached by a knife-wielding suspect, allegedly forced into his vehicle trunk and released near Wagon Wheel Crescent; police tracked the stolen vehicle to Rundle and, with HAWCS and RCMP, arrested three adults in Innisfail — two children were in the vehicle.

City used AI to score 17,000+ intersections and flagged top 50 pedestrian-risk sites. A report for Community Development Committee shows Calgary’s AI gave risk scores from 93.55 to 99.02 for 50 high-risk unsignalized intersections, with Martindale Boulevard and Martindale Gate N.E. ranked highest and only about half of the 50 currently recommended for upgrades.

Charges laid after St. Albert electric dirt-bike crash amid rising e-mobility hospitalizations. Edmonton emergency physician Dr. Louis Hugo Francescutti told reporters that University of Alberta doctors treated three e-scooter injuries in a week and warned private e-bikes can reach 50 km/h; the St. Albert collision has prompted criminal charges in that case.
