- Manning teen arrested after alleged school shooting threat; seven firearms seized. RCMP in Manning, Alta., investigated a threat reported Aug. 19 about a planned shooting on the first day of school, searched a home Tuesday and seized seven firearms as part of the arrest and investigation.

- TSB calls for stronger medical fitness rules after 2023 Wainwright train collision. The Transportation Safety Board said on Tuesday that an engineer with Type 1 diabetes had incomplete medical assessments after an Aug. 8, 2023 incident near Wainwright in which a train passed a stop signal; no one was injured, and the TSB highlighted cognitive decline consistent with hypoglycemia.
