Montreal records its 16th homicide after woman found dead in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension. Police answered a 911 call Monday at about 2:25 p.m. to an apartment on 39th Street near Paul-Corbeil Street where a 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead with upper-body injuries; a 35-year-old man with critical upper-body injuries was taken to hospital and is now considered a suspect.

PQ leader rules out a sovereignty referendum while Donald Trump is U.S. president, pledging no vote before Jan. 20, 2029. Paul St-Pierre Plamondon posted that the Parti Québécois would consult Quebecers on independence during a first term if elected but will not hold a referendum while Trump remains president; he listed priorities including housing, homelessness and public-service reform.

Health Canada seized unauthorized drugs from Rabais 4Saisons Inc. at 5321 rue de Charleroi in Montreal. The federal agency says seized products included an oral emergency contraceptive, erectile dysfunction drugs, antibiotics and anti-parasitic drugs that lacked required bilingual labels and may be unauthorized versions of prescription medicines; authorized products have eight-digit Drug Identification Numbers, the agency noted.
