- More evacuees return as Bald Range fire is mapped at 21,000 hectares. Three evacuation orders near Okanagan Lake were downgraded to alerts on Monday and the BC Wildfire Service has assigned more than 500 personnel, 16 helicopters and nearly 60 pieces of heavy equipment; crews will shift firefighting activity west and northwest as fuels remain extremely dry after about 40 days without precipitation.
- Historic Cumberland building that houses Dodge City Cycles caught fire Sunday night. Cumberland Fire Chief Mike Williamson said the blaze began in the bike shop, crews knocked the fire down and one firefighter was injured after a suspected shoulder dislocation; the 1895-era building’s cause remains under investigation.
- Lions Bay Search and Rescue warns of a grizzly sighting near Deeks Lake. Rescuers say the bear is likely a young male about six to eight years old, advised hikers to carry bear spray and keep dogs leashed, and noted a cinnamon-coloured black bear has also been reported in the area.

- Demolition of Tumbler Ridge Secondary School has begun after the February mass shooting. Crews started removing the exterior on Monday and the Peace River South School District says demolition will take weeks before fall work restores the site to grass; students will attend classes in portable classrooms while the province pledges to build a new school at a different location.
- Burnaby RCMP steps up e-scooter enforcement after a May crash injured two children. Officers will target underage riders and helmet violations following the May 2 collision that sent an 11-year-old and a nine-year-old to hospital with serious injuries; riders must be at least 16 years old, RCMP said.

- Richmond plywood maker warns a looming 50% U.S. tariff would be unaffordable. Richmond Plywood CFO Bhavjit Thandi said 50-per-cent duties hitting roughly $28 billion in Canadian exports would be beyond the company’s margins as Ottawa and Washington race to negotiate before Wednesday’s deadline.
- B.C. continues to pay to operate the 110-unit Luugat SRO for one resident past June closure promise. Officials estimate costs since July 1 exceed $150,000 while the lone resident, Ryan Donnelly, remains in the Granville Street building and Housing Minister Christine Boyle says the situation is “not ideal.”
