- Two injured after Brampton collision at McLaughlin Rd and Queen St. Peel police say a pickup and a sedan collided just before 3:45 a.m. Friday; a male driver was taken to a trauma centre in serious condition and a female driver was treated for minor injuries. - Peel charges three youths in Brampton ‘Rogue Riders’ dirt‑bike probe. - Toronto police link ‘Jay’ to 2022 Scarborough murder and a March 2023 attempted killing. Investigators named a suspect believed to use the name “Jay” in the Nov. 12, 2022 killing of 31‑year‑old Ding Ping Wang near Midland and Passmore, and linked the same person to an attempted murder in the same parking lot on March 10, 2023; police released new security footage and continue to seek tips.

- Ontario Court of Appeal clears province to remove downtown Toronto bike lanes. The unanimous Aug. 14 decision allows the Ford government to rip out bike lanes on parts of Yonge, University and Bloor streets after overturning a lower court injunction; Justice Grant Huscroft wrote courts should not wade into legislative policy. - Ontario imposes new bail rules requiring cash security within two business days.
