1. DNA confirms the bear killed after a three-year-old was mauled in Maple Ridge was the same animal. B.C. Conservation Service announced DNA analysis and evidence reassessment matched the bear shot about 30 minutes after the Aug. 9 attack on 12300 block of 240th Street; three-year-old Anaiyah Lekei underwent surgery for claw and bite wounds to head, neck and back, her family said.

2. Stoney Hill Regional Park east of Duncan closed after black bear attacked hiker and her dogs. 2. Mexican citizen charged in the 1996 murder of a Vancouver woman after a 30-year cold-case probe. Investigators laid charges this week following the long-running cold-case investigation that reopened the 1996 homicide, the published report said.
