69-year-old Edmonton motorcyclist killed in Parkland County crash on Highway 627. RCMP say officers found the Edmonton rider dead at the scene just after 6 a.m. on Thursday near Range Road 273; the pickup driver, an 82-year-old from Spruce Grove, was uninjured and police closed the highway for collision reconstruction before reopening it early Thursday afternoon.

21-year-old woman dies after single-vehicle rollover in Strathcona County. Mounties responded around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to Township Road 524 and Range Road 214 where an SUV carrying four rolled into a swampy ditch; three occupants escaped, but a 21-year-old driver was found trapped under the vehicle, rushed to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Federal secretary Ruby Sahota met Edmonton mayor and groups to discuss downtown safety. Sahota spoke at an Edmonton Chamber of Commerce event on Thursday and referenced similar concerns in other downtowns; Alberta Justice Minister Mickey Amery said Alberta provided input on new federal bail and sentencing reforms and that provincial government is implementing those requirements.

City of Edmonton pitched the Infill Infrastructure Program to boost transit-oriented housing near LRT stations. Administration presented the program at Tuesday’s Urban Planning Committee to incentivize residential builds along priority growth areas and Committee Chair Anne Stevenson said the aim is to raise ridership by putting more people on existing trains and buses.

Driver pleads guilty to impaired driving causing two deaths in 2025 Leduc County crash. In Leduc court on Thursday, 39‑year‑old Amy Patricia Krautt pled guilty to two counts after an April 2, 2025 head‑on collision near Highway 21 and Township Road 502 that killed Kean Konchinew and Shirley Konchenew; a forensic test found Krautt’s blood alcohol between 329–381 mg per 100 mL.
