80-year-old woman dies while fleeing aggressive Bald Range wildfire near Summerland. The Bald Range fire, which sparked Friday night, is estimated at 13,618.2 hectares and has prompted five evacuation orders and four evacuation alerts; the BC Coroner’s Service is investigating the death and Penticton RCMP say homes and structures have been destroyed.
B.C. declares province-wide state of emergency as wildfires spread. The declaration covers the province after more than 100 wildfires were reported and nearly half were described as burning out of control, with one fire forcing nearly 25,000 people to flee across two communities east of Vancouver.

Union of BC Indian Chiefs urges Ottawa and Alberta to halt West Coast pipeline advancement.
