- Winnipeg Transit operator stabbed after asking passenger to pay fare near Isabel St and William Ave at 1:20 a.m. The assailant stabbed the driver twice in the leg with a syringe, the operator was taken to Seven Oaks Hospital in stable condition, and Winnipeg police say no arrests have been made.
- RCMP seize about $970,000 in cash after July 31 traffic stop near Brandon. Officers pulled the vehicle for speeding (129 km/h in a 100 km/h zone), arrested a 22-year-old from Toronto and a 44-year-old from Stouffville, and charged both with possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000.
- Nearly 600,000 illegal cigarettes seized from Winnipeg home on Sherbrook Street. Police confiscated about 3,000 cigarette cartons and $1,500 in cash, charged a 36-year-old man with trafficking in contraband tobacco and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and released him on an undertaking.

- Manitoba will allow pharmacists to prescribe birth control after approved training.
