Calgary Fire responds to three lithium‑ion battery fires in 24 hours. Fires began Aug. 6 at a northeast home (Covercreek Mews) and Aug. 7 at a warehouse in the 6600 block of 106 Avenue SE; investigators tied at least two blazes to batteries in e‑scooters and compacted boxes. The department issued a citywide warning after firefighters found three scooters charging in a garage and a compactor fire linked to discarded batteries.

Memorial Drive will be extended east to 84 Street NE as part of 54‑hectare development.
