1. L’Ascension declares state of emergency after heavy rainfall. The town of L’Ascension (≈900 residents) says more than a dozen roads were damaged or destroyed after up to 75 mm of rain fell in the Upper Laurentians between Sunday and noon Monday, Environment Canada said. The mayor of nearby Ste-Adèle offered assistance to L’Ascension.
2. West Island homeowners demand action after repeated flooding. Over 100 residents protested at the Pierrefonds–Roxboro borough hall after hundreds of homes flooded in June; Environment Canada reported about 150 mm of rain fell over parts of western Montreal and the South Shore during that storm. Homeowner Jeffrey Cooper said his household spent about $50,000 repairing a basement flood from August 2024 and saw roughly 75 cm of water this June.

1. Montreal police release photos of suspect in May attempted murder. The armed assault occurred May 18 at Élie-Beauregard Avenue and Perras Boulevard in Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles; a 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with upper- and lower-body stab wounds. Police describe the suspect as 6'–6'5" with dark shoulder-length dreadlocks, wearing a black sweatshirt, black jogging pants and white shoes, and ask anyone with information to contact Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133.
2. Self-serve Montreal bakery vandalized again; perpetrators left anti-tech message. The bakery reported a repeat vandalism incident and found an anti-technology message left by the perpetrators, the owner said.

1. Ville-Marie launches push to revitalize Montreal’s Chinatown with daily cleaning crews. Claude Pinard, Montreal executive committee chair, said crews will work around the clock seven days a week and the borough will create a local alliance and an urban economic and social development plan; the alliance will meet for the first time before the end of the month. The measures respond to resident concerns about homelessness, drug use and petty crime.
2. Former Iranian conscripts protest in Montreal over refugee refusals tied to IRGC listings. Protesters and immigration lawyer Lorne Waldman said men who were conscripted into Iran’s military are being refused refugee or resident status after Canada listed the IRGC as a terrorist entity in 2024; James Devine said adjudicators must examine applicants’ backgrounds for patterns of association.
