1. Body believed to be missing 11-year-old Parker found in culvert east of Deerfoot Trail. Calgary Police Chief Katie McLellan said searchers located the body in a small pipe on the east side of Deerfoot Trail after a member of the public reported clothing consistent with Parker’s last-known outfit; the Calgary Fire Department used specialised equipment to recover the body.

2. Young woman in her 20s dies after slipping on Mount Shark in Kananaskis. Canmore RCMP responded around 4 p.m. Tuesday to assist Parks Canada after a hiker fell on a loop trail near Mount Shark in Spray Valley Provincial Park and was later confirmed dead, RCMP said Wednesday.

1. CBSA intercepts 380 kg of suspected meth and cocaine at Coutts border crossing. Canada Border Services Agency officers seized 300 kg of suspected methamphetamine and 80 kg of suspected cocaine hidden in moving boxes from a truck that crossed from California on July 2; the driver was arrested and handed to RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region.

2. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating suspected domestic homicide north of High River; one person in custody. RCMP said charges are pending after officers attended a property on 112 Street East near Highway 2; investigators said there is no danger to the public and Major Crimes members are on scene.

1. Cenovus forecasts July monthly output above one million barrels per day. CEO Jon McKenzie said July average production will surpass one million barrels per day after the MEG Energy acquisition, with Christina Lake alone averaging about 400,000 bpd for July.

2. Calgary closing gap on Winnipeg for ‘Slurpee Capital’ title after strong per-store sales. Marc Goodman of 7-Eleven Canada said Calgary’s per-store Slurpee consumption has risen and is narrowing the gap with Winnipeg, which averages about 188,833 Slurpees sold per month across the city.
