- Calgary police scale back ground search for missing 11-year-old Parker. Chief Katie McLellan said physical searches in Parker’s last known area and Nose Hill Park are complete after teams walked more than 8,600 kilometres over 12 days; investigators will continue to assess new information and leads after he was last seen July 16 between 11:08 a.m. and 11:41 a.m.
- Flow into Chestermere Lake shut off after 1,200-litre oil spill traced to commercial storage. Alberta says about 1,200 litres spilled after a storage tank failure in southeast Calgary entered the Western Headworks Canal; a vacuum truck was used and the facility operator is covering cleanup costs as lake levels returned to normal.

- Austin Mack posts 173 receiving yards and two TDs in Elks’ 36-34 win. Mack had four catches for 173 yards, including a 57-yard and an 81-yard TD, helping Edmonton improve to 6-1 and move four points clear of Saskatchewan in the West Division.
- Lorenzo Mauldin IV ends CFL retirement, signs with B.C. Lions. Mauldin, who finished last season with the Calgary Stampeders and led the CFL with 17 sacks in 2022, signed with the Lions after recording 150 tackles and 32 sacks in 67 games with Ottawa.

- Alberta to allow out-of-pocket payment for diagnostic tests starting Friday. Premier Danielle Smith announced Albertans can pay directly for MRIs and ultrasounds beginning this Friday under legislation passed this spring; providers may choose whether to offer the service and can modify tests.
- Cold Lake café closes after losing customers over separatist petition events. Owner John Ewanek said Beantrees lost about 15 per cent of revenue after hosting Stay Free Alberta events; Elections Alberta verified nearly 223,000 petition signatures and the owner closed the café in late June.
