Tragic shooting in Port Alberni: An 81-year-old man, Herbert Crowley, is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after a March 13 trailer-park shooting shortly after 9 p.m. Police say first responders couldn’t save the victim; the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is handling the probe and call it an isolated incident involving people who knew each other.

Overnight homicide in Surrey: Officers were called to a Laurel Drive home around 1:40 a.m. on March 15 and found a man who had been shot and later died at the scene. A man was arrested at the home and is in custody while the Integration Homicide Investigation Team takes over the investigation.
