Robots on the assembly line? Toyota Canada has signed a commercial Robots‑as‑a‑Service deal with Oregon’s Agility Robotics to bring the humanoid robot Digit to its Woodstock, Ont., plant — seven robots were allocated and deployment will begin with three units. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (plants in Cambridge and Woodstock), with president Tim Hollander, says Digit will take on repetitive, physically demanding tasks to reduce worker strain and boost safety and efficiency, and Agility CEO Peggy Johnson called the move a big step for humanoid robots in industry.
