Startling wake-up: flames from propane heaters at a construction site near Clareview Recreation Centre in northeast Edmonton shot 40 to 50 feet into the air early on Feb. 21, 2026, waking resident Antoinette Dick. District Chief Cory Cremer said firefighters responded to reports of an explosion; about 20 people (including Dick) were evacuated, the propane company was called in, and as of Saturday afternoon there was no confirmed cause or major damage. In other words, neighbours are shaken but there were no reported serious injuries.
