  1. Polls open across B.C. today; voting continues until 8 p.m. local time. Elections officials say voters in line at 8 p.m. may still cast ballots; the vote follows a snap election David Eby called on Sept. 22, held one week after the municipal elections and covering all 93 provincial ridings.

Correctional Service of Canada said a warrant led to suspension of his conditional release; Ewert was convicted in the 1980s of second-degree murder and attempted murder in B.C., served about 40 years, was granted day parole in 2025 and has been barred from McGill campus.
  2. Former SFU manager received a conditional sentence after stealing more than $180,000. Court documents and sentencing reports name the theft total at over $180,000 and record a conditional sentence as the court’s disposition.
  3. Crews fought an apartment building blaze in downtown Victoria on Saturday. Fire crews responded to the downtown Victoria fire; local reports describe an active suppression effort at the apartment building.
