Manitoba RCMP’s MILET and CBSA information led to searches on Pipeline Road and Griffin Way on Sept. 11 that recovered 13 guns (two sawed-off), altered high-capacity magazines and roughly 20,000 rounds of ammunition; a 48-year-old West St. Paul man and a 38-year-old man were arrested and remanded on multiple firearms charges.

  2. Rideshare driver, 27, charged with sexual assault after Sept. 27 Weston incident. Winnipeg Police say the 27-year-old driver allegedly assaulted a woman after dropping her at her requested destination in the Weston neighbourhood; she fled the vehicle, phoned police, and the suspect was arrested the next morning at an apartment complex on Kennedy Street and released on an undertaking.

  1. Winnipeg Jets score three five-on-five goals in third, win 3-2 in Pittsburgh. The Jets improved to 2-0-1 on the season after Alex Iafallo, Adam Lowry and Cole Perfetti scored in a chaotic third period and new goalie Clay Stevenson stopped 30 of 32 shots in his sixth NHL start to earn the win in Pittsburgh on Monday night.

  2. Alex Ovechkin will play nine more games in Canada during his final NHL season. The Washington Capitals captain announced 2026-27 will be his last and will play Canadian games Nov. 10 (Ottawa), Dec. 3 (Edmonton), Dec. 5 (Calgary), Dec. 7 (Vancouver) and others, with his final regular-season Canadian game scheduled for April 8, 2027.
