🚑 Breaking & Incidents

  1. Deux personnes arrêtées après la découverte d'un corps dans une voiture calcinée; un troisième suspect recherché. La police a répondu à un incendie de véhicule près de Reesor Road et Steeles Ave. E. le 21 septembre et a découvert le corps de Marcus Charles, 32 ans; Rushon Powell, 25 ans, fait face à une accusation de meurtre au premier degré et Shakurwa Jeffrey, 25 ans, à des accusations de complicité après le fait, tandis que Devondre Hall, 25 ans, est recherché sous mandat à l'échelle du Canada.

  2. La Garde côtière américaine suspend la recherche d'un aéronef sanitaire ontarien porté disparu; six personnes présumées mortes. La recherche a été interrompue après que les agences ont ratissé plus de 7 000 kilomètres pour le jet disparu en route des Bermudes vers Boston; un champ de débris situé à environ 32 kilomètres au large de Nantucket a été confirmé comme provenant de l'appareil et quatre Canadiens figuraient parmi les six personnes à bord.

  1. Un inspecteur de Toronto accusé de conduite avec facultés affaiblies après avoir été trouvé endormi au volant. L'inspecteur Michael Hayles, 51 ans, affecté à la 55e division, a été arrêté peu après 6 h près de Laird Drive et Eglinton Ave. E. et accusé d'exploitation/conduite avec facultés affaiblies et de dépassement de la concentration d'alcool dans le sang; Hayles a été suspendu avec traitement en vertu de la Loi sur la sécurité communautaire et la police.

  2. Deux militaires des Forces armées canadiennes arrêtés à Toronto dans le cadre d'enquêtes sur le crime organisé et des enlèvements. Les bombardiers Sachintha Fernando et James Moreau, tous deux réservistes du 7th Toronto Regiment, ont été arrêtés par la police de Toronto le 11 août et font face à des accusations liées au crime organisé, à l'enlèvement et au vol d'armes à feu; tous deux ont été retirés de leurs fonctions et leur accès aux installations des FAC a été restreint en attendant un examen administratif.

  3. Un homme d'Ajax reconnu coupable de meurtre au deuxième degré dans la mort de sa conjointe en 2024. Un jury a déclaré Kyle Severin coupable après six heures de délibération pour le meurtre, le 30 mars 2024, de Jennifer Polak, 45 ans; le jury a rejeté la défense d'intoxication extrême et Severin sera condamné après le verdict.

  1. Famille « absolument dévastée » après le vol du lapin primé Biscuit à la Foire de Markham. Biscuit, un Holland Lop inscrit par une fillette de 10 ans, a remporté la première place et a été enlevé du pavillon des petits animaux et de la volaille dans la soirée du 3 octobre, ont indiqué les organisateurs; des bénévoles ont découvert la cage vide et la police a été avisée.

  2. Alex Ovechkin jouera neuf matchs au Canada lors de sa dernière saison dans la LNH, dont deux à Toronto.
