- Amber Alert cancelled after seven-year-old found safe and suspect arrested. RCMP issued an Amber Alert at 10:15 a.m. MT Monday and cancelled it about 90 minutes later when police confirmed the child was safe and an alleged abductor was taken into custody; authorities withheld the identities of the child and adult in their update just before noon.
- Alberta lawyers urge public release of review into police misconduct probes. The provincial legal community on Monday called for the government to publish the long-awaited review of police misconduct investigations; the lawyers’ demand requests public access to the report the province has still not released.

- Analysis from researchers urges permanent standard time, not daylight saving. A Canadian Medical Association Journal analysis published Monday by sleep and mental-health experts, including Simon Fraser University’s Ralph Mistlberger, recommended permanent standard time over permanent daylight time, warning that staying on daylight time after Nov. 1 will produce darker winter mornings with health and education effects.

- Alex Ovechkin will play nine more games in Canada during final NHL season. The Washington Capitals captain announced his 2026-27 season will be his last and confirmed nine Canadian dates, including games in Ottawa (Nov. 10), Edmonton (Dec. 28), Calgary (Mar. 9) and a final Canadian regular-season game April 8.
- B.C. Lions sign Canadian DB Cristophe Beaulieu to a one-year extension. The Lions announced on Monday that Beaulieu, who had 36 defensive tackles and two interceptions in 2025 and has 11 tackles this season, signed a one-year contract extension.
