Oléoduc Pacific Link, Philpot en chasse du record et Pickett en tête des plaqués — Vendredi à Calgary

  1. Adarius Pickett mène la LCF au chapitre des plaqués alors que les Argos visent le positionnement dans l’Est. Le secondeur de 30 ans des Argos de Toronto mène la ligue avec 92 plaqués défensifs et 103 plaqués au total (11 sur les unités spéciales) alors que Toronto affiche une fiche de 9-6 et a déjà assuré une partie de séries à domicile; les Argos reçoivent les B.C. Lions (8-6) samedi, Montréal pouvant clincher la première place en cas de défaite de Toronto et de victoire à domicile des Alouettes.

  2. Tyson Philpot doit amasser 135 verges de réception pour battre la marque canadienne en saison de 1967 de Terry Evanshen. Philpot, 26 ans, mène la LCF avec 1 528 verges de réception et 12 touchés en 14 parties et cherchera à dépasser le record de 1 662 verges lorsque Montréal recevra Winnipeg samedi soir.

  3. Kenny Lawler a capté six passes pour 132 verges et deux touchés alors que Hamilton mettait fin à une série de cinq défaites. La victoire 34-16 des Tiger-Cats à Ottawa porte Hamilton à 5-11; Lawler a enregistré sa 400e réception en carrière dans la LCF et a remis son chandail à son frère après le match.

  4. Des ouvertures de saison à fort score ont laissé les Oilers à 1-0-1 et les Canucks à 1-1-0 après une victoire 9-7 des Oilers.   1. Les dirigeants fédéraux et albertiens ont déclaré que l’oléoduc Pacific Link d’un million de barils par jour est un projet d’intérêt national. Le premier ministre Mark Carney a annoncé la désignation Pacific Link à Fort McMurray et a indiqué que le bureau des grands projets basé à Calgary supervisera un examen rationalisé; la première ministre Danielle Smith a accompagné M. Carney à la conférence de presse alors que des responsables ont soutenu que les sables bitumineux pourraient connaître une « croissance soutenue » si des entreprises investissent.

  2. Des dirigeants séparatistes albertiens affirment que la décision d’Ottawa sur le pipeline ne modifiera pas leur poussée avant le référendum du 19 octobre. Cory Morgan, organisateur du groupe Pathway to Independence, a déclaré que la désignation Pacific Link n’altère pas les objectifs des séparatistes alors que les Albertains se préparent à voter sur le maintien au sein du Canada ou à déclencher un second référendum contraignant sur l’indépendance.

  3. Le constable Eli Ndatuje a été déclaré non coupable de toutes les accusations à Red Deer vendredi. Le juge Jason Wilkins a acquitté Ndatuje, 39 ans, des accusations en vertu du Code criminel et de la Loi sur la sécurité des renseignements après une enquête mobilisant de 20 à 30 agents, des interceptions judiciaires et des entrevues à la suite de l’arrestation de Ndatuje en février 2024.
