  1. Coalition d'Edmonton demande la création de sites dédiés pour les campements dans la vallée de la rivière. La Edmonton River Valley Conservation Coalition, présidée par Kristine Kowalchuk, réclame des sites pilotes dotés d'eau potable, de toilettes, de poubelles et de dispositifs sûrs pour l'élimination des aiguilles, et propose l'utilisation de conteneurs maritimes comme logement; le groupe estime qu'environ 5 000 personnes vivent sans logement à Edmonton et affirme que la capacité d'hébergement intérieur couvre à peu près la moitié de ce nombre.

  2. Les gouvernements fédéral et albertais désignent le pipeline Pacific Link comme un « projet majeur d'intérêt national ». Le premier ministre Mark Carney a annoncé la conduite d'un million de barils par jour à Fort McMurray, déclenchant un examen accéléré par le bureau des grands projets à Calgary; Carney et la première ministre albertaine Danielle Smith ont indiqué que cette mesure vise à appuyer une « croissance soutenue » dans les sables bitumineux si les entreprises reprennent des investissements de plusieurs milliards.

  3. Les séparatistes albertais affirment que la désignation du pipeline n'arrêtera pas leur campagne avant le référendum du 19 octobre. Cory Morgan, organisateur du groupe Pathway to Independence, a déclaré aux journalistes que la désignation de Pacific Link ne change pas les objectifs des séparatistes alors que les Albertains se préparent à voter le 19 octobre sur un scrutin qui pourrait entraîner une seconde question de séparation contraignante; la première ministre Danielle Smith a dit qu'elle votera pour rester au Canada.

  4. Le gendarme albertain Eli Ndatuje acquitté de toutes les accusations. Le juge Jason Wilkins a acquitté Ndatuje au palais de justice de Red Deer des accusations au Code criminel et de la Security of Information Act liées à un usage illégal de bases de données pour aider la haute commission du Rwanda, après une enquête mobilisant 20–30 agents et des interceptions téléphoniques.
