1. Mark Carney opens Toronto investment summit pitching $1 trillion plan. Prime Minister Mark Carney hosted hundreds of executives at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Monday and will lead presentations at the Four Seasons on Tuesday as part of a plan to stimulate $1 trillion in investment over five years; the summit features premiers and ministers pitching projects in energy, infrastructure and critical minerals.
2. Ontario pledges better wildfire communication and $20M for northern bases. Felice Passarelli, 71, admitted to unlawfully killing 58-year-old Param “Pam” Kaur in her home on Nov. 10, 2023, but Superior Court Justice Jane Kelly accepted a joint Crown-defence submission that delusional disorder rendered him NCR of second-degree murder; the court heard impact statements from Kaur’s family describing lasting trauma and safety changes at home.

1. California man, 67, dies after vessel capsizes on Georgian Bay. West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit responded at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday north of Franklin Island after a vessel capsized; the sole occupant, identified as a 67-year-old California resident, was found dead and the OPP technical collision investigation team is assisting the ongoing probe.
