OPP officer charged with impaired driving
- A 39-year-old Ontario Provincial Police constable with 17 years of service was arrested and charged after an impaired-driving probe launched Jan. 15 by the Southern Georgian Bay detachment. Charges: operation while impaired (alcohol) and operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration above legal limit. The officer is suspended with pay; the OPP Professional Standards Unit is conducting an internal investigation. Court appearance set for Feb. 26 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland.

Nor'easter to hit Atlantic Canada — Nova Scotia warnings
- A Nor'easter is headed for parts of Atlantic Canada. Environment Canada issued yellow snowfall warnings for most of Nova Scotia: 15–25 cm expected beginning Sunday evening. Precipitation may start as rain and change to wet snow by mid-evening; temperatures near 0°C mean heavy, wet snow that is hard to clear. Risks: hazardous roads, difficult walkways and possible utility outages. Conditions expected to improve Monday morning.

More snow forecast for southern Ontario
- Southern Ontario faces another winter blast with local snowfall expected (Environment Canada). Wet, dense snow and near-freezing temperatures could make clearing difficult and affect travel. Motorists should expect slower conditions and consider delaying non-essential trips until conditions improve.

Canadiens rally past Senators, Caufield wins it in OT
- Montreal rallied from a 5–3 deficit to beat the Ottawa Senators 6–5 in overtime. Cole Caufield scored twice, including the game-winner 33 seconds into OT. Montreal scored three straight late in the third; Alexandre Carrier tied the game 65 seconds after the first comeback goal; Samuel Montembeault was in net for Montreal.

Senators' goaltending woes continue
- Ottawa (22–19–6) outshot Montreal 34–19 and saw Jake Sanderson finish with a goal and three assists (Sanderson also scored his 10th). Despite strong play, Ottawa lost in OT. Team and fans cite recurring goaltending shortfalls as a major reason for their struggles in the Eastern Conference.
